    Aviation Club - Flying Lions

We are a community of students exploring aviation, aligned with the Aircraft Owner’s and Pilot’s Association High School Initiative. The AOPA Foundation’s High School initiative was designed to rebuild the pilot population and the aviation industry from the ground up. By providing high-quality STEM-based aviation education open to high school students state-wide, Lincoln HS is opening the door to aviation careers for our teens as one of the only two high schools in the entire state offering a true Aviation CTE that leads to a pilot’s license. Our new Aviation CTE is designed to capture their imagination and give students from diverse backgrounds the tools to pursue advanced education and careers in aviation fields. This program is supported at LHS by 2 state-of-the-art flight RedBird simulators and 8 state-of-the-art Jay Velocity trainers. Beginning in the 26-27 school year, LHS will be offering a three-year high school aviation STEM program that falls along two tracks—private pilot and/or unmanned aircraft systems (drones). The program conforms to math and science standards and, in keeping with career and technical education best practices, will lead to a certification or industry-accepted test, such as the FAA Private Pilot knowledge test or a Part 107 drone pilot certification. The Flying Lions Aviation Club supports and encourages student involvement in aviation activities and promotes involvement in the Aviation CTE at LHS. Contact Mr. Garriott for more information.
